1963 Chevrolet Impala Z-11 For Sale In Woodinville, Washington 98072

If you are someone who appreciates classic authenticity laced with powerful performance than you owe it to yourself to check out this 1963 Chevrolet Impala Z-11! It is the rarest of the 50 Z-11s that were ever built, with only 15 original Z-11's that are known to exist. Sander's car is (1 of 1 in body color and interior), the most original of all Z-11s, retaining all its original factory body, trim, interior, and original engine parts, with completed and restored factory restoration value (#1) rated over 990 points. This car is both legally and technically by far, the most successful of ALL factory stock drag race cars in 1963.

The most significant rarity of the Z-11s, including the 24 pieces of aluminum body panels with aluminum motor parts, the sintered metallic brakes shoes with vented backing plates, and the Ram-Air Cowl Induction air cleaner is the super rare Z-11 motor structure, of which only 50 Z-11 motors were ever built. These 50 Z-11 motors are by far the very lowest engine production ever built for factory race cars. The other race car manufacturers in 1963 have each built the following top racing motors (Pontiac and Ford) each built several hundred motors, Plymouth and Dodge) each built over 1,200 motors each. As another motor comparison, Chevy developed 216 of the very rare L-88, 427 C.I. high performance motors that were installed in the (67-69) Corvettes. Today, the 1967 Corvette L-88 cars are currently selling for up to 3.5 million dollars each.

The Z-11 engine structure used only two of the items from the 1963 409 C.I. engine motor, including the 409 block, and two, 4 barrel carburetors. The remaining 90% of the Z-11s new motor parts structures is as follows:

1) A stroker crankshaft to create a 427 C.I. motor.
2) Modified connecting rods.
3) 13.5 compression pistons.
4) An 8-quart oil pan with a larger oil pump.
5) An aluminum water pump with an aluminum fan shroud.
6) A 325-degree camshaft with a .556-inch lift, with H.D. pushrods with 1.75 rocker arms.
7) Modified cylinder heads with larger ports, with modified rocker arm supports. 8) Modified dual-point distributor.
9) A revised 2-piece dual quad aluminum intake manifold with larger elevated port systems.
10) A one-time only Ram-Air, Cowl Induction Air Cleaner.
11) A specific and rare "Frank Sanders Z-11 racing headers. These major Z-11 motor modifications have significantly increased the factory horsepower rating to 510 hp, with a Torque Rating of 520 ft. pounds.
(The owner has available, 48 of the 50 Z-11 VIN numbers, and a factory list of all the Z-11 part numbers)

Frank Sanders Z-11 car started off in January of 1963 by being the VERY FIRST LEGAL FACTORY STOCK DRAG CAR in the country that broke the 120 MPH barrier. Frank Sanders' car then won "NHRA Winter nationals Class Champion" in the "Limited Production Stock" class in February of 1963.

Frank Sanders then proceeded to compete in "Drag News - Top 10 Mr. Stock Eliminator Record List "which was by far the most famous USA "Drag Racing Publication" in the country in 1963, which had WEEKLY publications provided with 16 to 40 pages, (11"x 17") having over 53,000 subscribers. Drag News was the ONLY publication which also promoted the best (2 out of 3) match racing for factory stock race cars. Unlike local match racing across the country that had basically NO RULES, Drag News - Top 10 Stock Eliminator Record List car racing has been structured by the "Drag News Mr. Stock Eliminator Supervisors". Each of the drivers with a top 10 racing title would determine which of the NHRA, AHRA, and NADS rules must be followed before their challenged race-off. The title holders and challengers were both allowed to require a "tear down" of their race competitor to certify the legality of their competition by posting the required a $25.00 tear down deposit. Any of the title winners would automatically lose their title position, if their motor tear
